Don't buy the refurbished offered. I did and was sorry. I got the Kindle - NO paperwork of any kind, no warranty information, not even directions - NO power cord. I would love to have picked up the phone and ask them to send them to me but guess what - you don't get a phone number, not even for customer service. I went on line and could find only an option to return - which is what I am doing. I have no idea if this thing even works. If it is anything like the service I would steer clear! I am very angry.

I purchased the Kindle DX Graphite specifically for college. I have one year to go and decided that it would be great to not have to carry around so many heavy textbooks. I figured that the savings in books would make up for the cost of the Kindle DX. Well it would if I could get any of my textbooks on it. The Kindle store doesn't offer any of the textbooks I need and other eTextbooks won't transfer to it. I should have spent a little extra and got the IPad. If you are purchasing it just as a reader, it should work great; if you want it for school, don't bother.

Being a gadget geek myself, I spend a lot of cash every year with new products. I have to say that Kindle is by far the best one that I bought this year. The e-ink technology is simply amazing, and it is so light that it feels like I'm reading an actual book. I even have professional-related documents that I have on Kindle for quick access. My whole library fits on my backpack now! :)

I purchased a Kindle DX about a month ago because I read a lot of technical books and thought it would make my book shelf a little lighter. Overall I like the device but there are a few things I missed. In technical books there are several acronyms throughout the book. That means that you have to refer to the index at the back of the book to refresh you memory. With the kindle you can't do that several times without losing your place in the book. Also when reading technical books the device does not tell you what page you are on in the book. You are also not able to look at the diagrams, tables, or table while reading about them. Especially if its a couple of pages ahead. This is a cool device for people that like to read novels but for technical publications it needs some work.
